LG launches its passive technology Cinema 3D TVs and Smart TVs in the UK (21/4/2011)

LG's latest 2011 range featuring the world's first flicker free 3D and award winning Smart TV technologies is available to buy in stores next week
LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, brings its hero technologies to the UK next week with the launch of its pioneering new home entertainment range. The new 2011 range includes LG's cutting edge technology such as its unique Cinema 3D(tm) and Smart TVs.
Available at major retailers from mid-April, LG's new range reflects its commitment to product innovation. As Sky's first choice for 3D TV, LG is expanding its already extensive 3D offering by bringing consumers the world's first flicker-free 3D TV range (LW450U, LW550T and LW650T series) which use polarised glasses - the same as those used in most 3D cinemas nationwide, providing consumers with the most comfortable 3D experience in screen sizes ranging from 32 to 55 inch.
Each Cinema 3D(tm) TV is sold with seven pairs of glasses, with extra pairs available to buy from just £2. The lightweight frames are comfortable to wear and don't require batteries, charging or synchronization with the TV. The ultra wide viewing angle provided by polarized glasses also means that friends and family can enjoy the magic of 3D together in stunning full HD.
LG's latest range also sees the introduction of its Smart TV platform, delivering the best of the internet directly onto the TV. LG's Smart TV platform, which has been internationally recognized with a CES Innovations Award, provides access to a wide range of services including apps, online video services and social networking sites*
By providing almost limitless content in big screen quality and on demand via LG's Smart TV service, LG is extending the role of home entertainment within the ever evolving "connected" home. It also promises to make internet TV easier than ever to navigate with LG's magic motion remote control, giving sofa-surfers a simple solution to point, click and control.
Stephen Gater, CE Marketing Director, commented: "This is a very exciting time for LG, we strongly believe in the real benefits that these new technologies will bring to consumers. With research showing that 88% of consumers prefer the viewing experience of Cinema 3D TVs, it is great to think that for the first time ever, LG is bringing the 3D experience that consumers enjoy so much in Cinemas to the comfort of home."
Sky customers looking to get the 3D cinema experience in their home, can get up to £400 off an LG Cinema 3D(tm) TV until 7th June. For more information, visit sky.com/LGoffer.
