Seat of learning on college courses

MOTOR vehicle students from Andover College will now be honing their mechanical skills on the very latest technology, courtesy of a generous donation from Seat UK.
Following a nomination from E W Pinchbeck and Sons Ltd, students will now be working on a brand new Seat Leon Cupra, valued at £22,560.
The car, although in perfect working condition, cannot be driven on UK roads as it has not been built to British specification.
Seat is donating five such vehicles across Europe with only two in the UK. As the oldest Seat dealership in the UK, Eddie Pinchbeck was able to nominate a recipient for the car and wanted it to go to the local college.
He said: “I was keen to give the motor vehicle students at Andover College the very latest technology to work on.
“This car is based on a World Touring Car so is one of the sportiest, most advanced and most powerful models in the range.
“I’m sure both the students and lecturers will enjoy having this resource in their department.”
The motor vehicle department at Andover College offers a range of courses, from basic vehicle maintenance to motor vehicle technology IMI (Institute of Motoring Industry) level 3 technical diploma.
Learning manager Patrick Littlehales said: “The college has an established motor vehicle department that has worked closely with local employers for a long time.
“A donation of this magnitude demonstrates how these close links can enhance the learning experience for all young people accessing our courses.
“To have the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art technology that would only normally be found in main dealer workshops is giving them excellent preparation for their career.
“On behalf of the college and the students I would like to thank Mr Pinchbeck for this generous contribution to our department.
“The college is already very well equipped with vehicles for students to practise their technical skills on.
“However, having a top-of-the-range Seat as a student resource is quite a coup and I know one which will prove most attractive to potential students considering where they’d like to study for their motor vehicle qualifications.”
